Graduate Mentors Needed for McNair Scholars Program

The UCSB McNair Scholars Program prepares qualified undergraduates for entrance into graduate programs in all fields of study with opportunities to participate in research activities. McNair Scholars Program Graduate Mentors are needed to serve as role models and advisors to undergraduate participants, assist with McNair publications, organize events and training sessions, facilitate quarterly seminars, and provide feedback for research assignments.

Compensation: The appropriate GSR hourly rate for 10 hours/week, plus partial tuition/fee remission for three quarters.

Eligibility: Any UCSB Ph.D. student in good standing who has successfully completed their first year of graduate education. S/he should be familiar with McNair, UC LEADS, or other similar programs, and have some experience teaching or advising undergrads. Students pursuing STEM degrees are highly encouraged to apply.

Program Dates: From the start of Spring 2016, through the 2016-17 academic year. Mentors must also be willing to commit 10 hours/week between June 20 – Aug. 19, 2016.

Application Deadline: Feb. 29.

Please send CV, names of two faculty references, and cover letter outlining your research, mentoring or public service experience, and commitment to the goals of the McNair Scholars Program, to Monique Limon.
