Join us in honoring Sal Castro, an educator and activist who played a pivotal role in the 1968 Los Angeles student walkouts also known as the "Blowouts." He empowered students to protest and demand that the unequal conditions of their schools be changed.

The Third Annual Sal Castro Memorial Conference highlights the historical importance of the Chicano Movement of the 1960s and 1970s. The keynote address, "On the Past and Present of the Chicano Movement: Some Reflections and Questions," will be delivered by David Montejano, an ethnic studies professor from UC Berkeley.

Time: 8:30 am - 6 pm

Where:UCSB McCune Conference Room, 6020 Humanities and Social Science Building
